Learn more about the Afghan Hound.

Ally is a 1 1/2 year old Afghan Hound mix, she weighs about 45 pounds right now and has been steadily putting on weight.

This sweet girl has had a rough life and we plan to turn that around for her.  She was born in Iraq to a mama dog that belonged to a solider and was brought to the US by a rescue group.  Ally was adopted right away, but is seems that her family must have given her away to someone else.  She ended up in a kill shelter in NC.

Ally was pulled by a rescue to ensure her safety and then she was turned over to us.  Ally is extremely shy, which is not a surprise considering all she has been through.

She knows that we are taking care of her and she is coming around to love and trust us.  Ally is very skinny and we are slowly getting her used to having her meals two times a day.

Ally loves big dogs and feels safe when around them.  Her new home should have another large dog for her to bond with.  She was in a foster home with a feisty Chihuahua and didn't do well.

She needs a fenced yard so she can play without a leash when she is outdoors.

This dog is truly special and has won over all our hearts with her gentle and shy personality.  She will need a loving and patient owner for her to share the rest of her life with.  We think she would be better with older children, not small children because of her shyness.

If you would like to meet her please submit an application from our website.
