UPDATE:  Swiper's surgery was a success and she is recovering quickly.  She is getting around great with 3 legs and continues to kiss you all over!  What a trooper!

Meet Swiper!  She is a darling little girl who needs your help!  Swiper was found as a stray with an injured leg.  Upon intake, x-rays showed that her leg is badly broken.  However, the break is very old and the bones have fused together causing her leg to be useless!  At this time, her leg prevents her from walking properly and is simply no longer a functional limb.  As time goes on, she will have lots of issues with this leg and it could become painful.  The veterinarian's have told us that amputation of the injured leg is the only way that Swiper will live a normal, healthy, and pain free life.  Swiper will be undergoing surgery 1/20/12 for amputation of her right hind leg.  It is expected that Swiper will make a full recovery and will function normally with 3 legs!  

It is heartbreaking to imagine what caused this injury to Swiper and how long she endured pain while this leg was left to heal on its own.  Imagine breaking your femur bone in your leg and then never receiving medical care or pain meds.  Would you have handled it as well as Swiper?  This tells us just how tough this little girl is.  She is friendly, loving, and wants to be cuddled and held.  She has been let down by people, but she has not given up and continues to offer unconditional love to everyone she meets.
