Hi, my name is Katie. I am a Golden Retriever and I will be 9 years old in June. I have had a rough time lately and I need some help to pay for my medical bills. You see my Mommy rescued me when I was about a year old. I lived with her until one of the volunteers from Surry Animal Rescue took me in. My mommy is sick, she was recently diagnosed with Cancer. One of mommy's friends called her up and asked if she needed help taking care of me and she had to say yes. I had something on my hind quarters that was bothering me and mommy couldn't afford to take me to the vet's office. My new Aunt took me to the vet and now I have been diagnosed with Cancer too!!! Poor mommy is so sad and thinks it is very unfair for both of us to be sick. She can't take care of me anymore so I am living with a wonderful foster family that thinks I am the greatest dog on Earth!! I don't feel sick right now so we are just taking it day by day. I get to visit with mommy when she is up to it and I enjoy doing that. I will need continous care and more surgery in the future. I get along great with humans, other dogs and even cats. They tell me that I am a typical Golden, whatever that means!!!
