Kortnie is a precious girl who has had a rough life. She is a 3 year old Great Pyrenees and only weighs 43 pounds. An adult female GP should weigh between 85 and 115 pounds.
She was rescued from a dangerous situation by two kind hearted animal lovers. We rushed Kortnie to the vet's office because we could tell she was in bad shape. This sweet girl was covered in fleas and ticks. You could feel her ribs through her fur, she was starving. Kortnie is heart worm positive, she tested negative for lyme's disease but she needs to be rechecked in a couple months. She had a bad case of hook worms that we treated her for. Kortnie will start her heart worm treatment soon. We need an experienced foster home for her where she can stay while having her treatment. She will need to be kept calm due to the chance of throwing a blood clot while on this heart worm treatment.
Kortnie can walk on her own but once you put a leash on her neck she stops short or lays down. She will definitely need a fenced yard and be allowed to walk around with supervision only. We think she may be hard of hearing so we are testing her for that.
