Baby was abandoned in 2011 and has lived in the woods for the past 3 years. She used to live in an apartment that was behind the reasturant where her foster mom works. She remembers seeing her follow her prior owner around, as he would kick at her and tell her to go back, go back!
She would often wander near the busy streets by herself and the employees would try to get her to come to them but she was always too afraid. Her owner went to jail and a short time later the apartment building was closed. They started feeding her and a doghouse was donated for her, but she remained afraid of people and isolated herself for years. It was a very sad situation because they wanted desperately to help her but she did not trust anyone.
In early June of this year she allowed one of the employees to touch her and they were all amazed!! They continued to build her trust and more and more of them were able to touch her over the next few weeks.
Her foster mom drove to the building one day to check on her and she came out of the bushes and and jumped right in her car!!! It was at that moment she realized it was official...she was going home with them!!
She is now having all her "firsts", her first car ride, first vet visit, first bath and most important first nights asleep on the couch!! She is an amazing dog and is so deserving of a family of her own.
Baby is about 4-5 years old. She was diagnosed as heartworm positive The foster family has started her heartworrm treatment plan and have already had her spayed.
She looks like a lab but also has a curly tail like a spitz. She does great with dogs that have a calm energy, and she hasn't bothered with the cats. She is a gentle soul and is very calm. She is housebroken which is amazing to everyone. She loves her crate, it is her special space.
She is very loving and affectionate and seems to smile when she is close to you!! She is so forgiving and so deserving of a special family that will continue to give her the love and care that she needs.
Baby loves to shake hands and have belly rubs. There are moments when her foster mom looks at her and thinks "she is smiling"!! We believe she is and she is thanking you that you saved her:)
