Update 12/28/11: Suzy continues to do well. She was extremely anemic but she is getting stronger each day now. She will need 1 more surgery in a few weeks to repair an abdominal area that will soon herniate. Suzy is eating well and starting to gain much needed weight.
Meet Miss Suzy-Q Rose! Suzy has had a dreadful life and wants a new life filled with nurturing love and attention! Help us give this gift to Suzy by giving her a forever home. Suzy is 8 years old and was used as a breeding dog her entire life. She more than likely had 2 litters a year since she was about 6 months old, so the stress of this has certainly caused much discomfort and suffering for Miss Suzy-Q. She is quite underweight, has some hair loss from flea allergies, and has a large abdominal hernia. She also has Pyometra, a disease of the uterus causing a dangerous infection that is deadly if left untreated. Suzy underwent surgery on 12/20/11 to be spayed (removing the infected uterus) and to repair her hernia. Her surgery went well and she is expected to make a full recovery! Her hernia was most likely caused by weakened abdominal muscles and stretched tissue due to overbreeding. Needless to say, Suzy-Q Rose never deserved to live like that and is now safe and recovering comfortably in a vet's office. Suzy is a joyful dog and always wags her tail when she sees you (even after all she has been through). She looks a little tired and sad in her pictures, but once she puts some weight on, gets her skin clean, and is infection free, she will begin to blossom....just like a rose! Please consider adopting Suzy-Q Rose and giving her the life she deserves!
